General Regulations
Categories
There are two categories within the Expert division:
- Geared unicycles
- Non-geared unicycles
A World Championship title will be awarded in both categories.
Geared unicycles are not allowed in the Beginner category.
Apart from this, there are no restrictions regarding the unicycle.
Age restriction: The U13 age group is not allowed to compete in XC Expert.
Behavior on the Course
On unrideable sections, participants may push their unicycle. Fast walking is allowed, but running is not.
Walking participants may overtake other walking participants, but not riding participants.
Riding participants are not required to give way to faster riders approaching from behind as long as they maintain their chosen line.
After a fall or dismount, participants must clear the course as quickly as possible.
Participants who have fallen or dismounted must not obstruct riding participants under any circumstances, including during remount attempts.
Finish Line
The finish line may be crossed either riding or walking.
Participants who cross the finish line walking or who fall directly on the finish line will receive a 10-second penalty.
It is allowed to go back, remount, and cross the finish line riding.
In this case, the second transponder trigger counts without applying the time penalty.
Start Format
Mass start with two starting blocks:
- BEGINNER (men and women of all age groups together)
- EXPERT (men and women of all age groups together, including geared unicycles)

Technically easy to intermediate, featuring steep uphill sections and a high physical demand.
Age restriction: U13 riders are not allowed to start.
There is a 75-minute cut-off time. After this time, the loop will be closed and participants will be directed to the finish area.
